Entropy of non-equilibrium stationary measures of boundary driven TASEP

چکیده
We examine the entropy of non-equilibrium stationary states of boundary driven totally asymmetric simple exclusion processes. As a consequence, we obtain that the Gibbs-Shannon entropy of the non equilibrium stationary state converges to the GibbsShannon entropy of the local equilibrium state. Moreover, we prove that its fluctuations are Gaussian, except when the mean displacement of particles produced by the bulk dynamics agrees with the particle flux induced by the density reservoirs in the maximal phase regime.

Entropy of stationary nonequilibrium measures of boundary driven symmetric simple exclusion processes
We examine the entropy of stationary nonequilibrium measures of boundary driven symmetric simple exclusion processes. In contrast with the Gibbs–Shannon entropy [1, 10], the entropy of nonequilibrium stationary states differs from the entropy of local equilibrium states.
متن کاملLyapunov functionals for boundary-driven nonlinear drift–diffusion equations
We exhibit a large class of Lyapunov functionals for nonlinear drift–diffusion equations with non-homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. These are generalizations of large deviation functionals for underlying stochastic manyparticle systems, the zero-range process and the Ginzburg–Landau dynamics, which we describe briefly. We prove, as an application, linear inequalities between such an en...
متن کاملA Thermodynamic Study of the Interaction between Urease and Copper Ions
A thermodynamic study of copper ions by jack bean urease (JBU) was carried out at two temperatures of 27 and 37?C in Tris buffer (30 mM; pH=7.0) using an isothermal titration calorimetry. There is a set of twelve identical and non-interacting binding sites for copper ions. The intrinsic dissociation equilibrium constant and the molar enthalpy of binding are 285 µM and ?15.2 kJ/mol at 27?C and 3...
متن کاملInformation theory explanation of the fluctuation theorem, maximum entropy production and self- organized criticality in non-equilibrium stationary states
Jaynes’ information theory formalism of statistical mechanics is applied to the stationary states of open, non-equilibrium systems. First, it is shown that the probability distribution p of the underlying microscopic phase space trajectories over a time interval of length τ satisfies p ∝ exp(τσ /2kB) where σ is the time-averaged rate of entropy production of . Three consequences of this result ...
متن کاملEntropy Production in Driven Spatially Extended Systems
This is a short review of the statistical mechanical definition of entropy production for systems composed of a large number of interacting components. Emphasis is on open systems driven away from equilibrium where the entropy production can be identified with a logarithmic ratio of microstate multiplicities of the original macrostate with respect to the time-reversed state. A special role is t...
